Starters: unlocked by playing
You do not need any Tokens for the five starters:

Tokens
Tokens are the Gacha currency. You earn them at the end of every run, but only when you play with an account. Guest runs do not pay out.

A run that dies on floor 5 after about 150 enemies is worth roughly 75 + 45 = 120 Tokens, enough for four single pulls. A full win is worth well over 1,000.
Gacha banners
Pulling needs an account, and you can earn up to 12,000 Tokens a day.

- Price: 30 Tokens per pull, or 270 Tokens for ten (one pull free).
- Odds (from the banner): ★★★★ 1%, ★★★ 9%, ★★ 30%, ★ 60%. Any pull is shiny 6% of the time (12% with the Shiny Charm).
- Duplicates refund 5 / 10 / 25 / 100 Tokens for ★ / ★★ / ★★★ / ★★★★, so pulls are never fully wasted.
Tip: ten-pulls are always the better deal once you have 270 Tokens. Pick the region whose types your team is missing (see the type chart).
The Mega banner
The 37 Mega Pokémon have their own banner, which opens after you defeat Armored Mewtwo on floor 30. It is paid with Mega Tickets instead of Tokens: 1 ticket per pull or 9 for ten. Each Mega boss drops 2 tickets and Armored Mewtwo drops 5; in endless mode the floor 40 Mega boss gives 10, floor 50 gives 15 and so on.
The Mega banner has better odds: ★★★★ 8%, guaranteed at least once every ten pulls, and a 15% chance of a special shiny (30% with the Shiny Charm). The special shiny colours are Crimson, Aquamarine, Emerald, Golden, Violet and Onyx.
Shinies and the Shiny Charm
Any Pokémon can be pulled as a shiny. Completing the Pokédex, all 971 Pokémon not counting shinies and Megas, rewards the Shiny Charm, which doubles your shiny odds. The Shiny Charm also opens Mt. Silver, an extra mode with Tyranitar, Steelix, Dragonite and finally Red at the summit.
Item unlocks and achievements
Not every item is in the pools on your first run. Some items start locked, and you unlock them in two ways:
- Beating bosses: each boss you beat unlocks 4 items for the rest of that run (a Mega boss unlocks 8).
- Achievements: 85 items are locked behind the game’s 15 achievements (plus 14 milestones), and achievement unlocks are permanent.

Achievements are a good reason to explore every floor fully on early runs: finding the secret room and clearing every combat room both push them along.
Trophies
Some fights award a profile trophy: Armored Mewtwo (floor 30), Mega Rayquaza (floor 50), the Eon duo Mega Latias and Mega Latios (floor 80) and Mega Mewtwo Y (floor 100). See the bosses guide.
Other modes
The game also lists an Indigo League mode with the Kanto Gym Leaders, the Elite Four and Champion Blue. At the time of writing it is open to testers only.
How much does a Gacha pull cost in PokéIsaac?
30 Tokens for a single pull, or 270 Tokens for ten, which saves you 30 Tokens. Duplicates refund Tokens.
How do I earn Tokens?
By finishing runs while logged in to an account: 15 Tokens per floor, 0.3 per enemy defeated, 300 for a win and 150 for each Mega boss. Guests do not earn Tokens.
How do I unlock the Mega banner?
Defeat Armored Mewtwo on floor 30. The Mega banner then opens, and it is paid with Mega Tickets, which drop from Mega bosses.
How do I get better shiny odds?
Complete the Pokédex: all 971 Pokémon, not counting shinies or Megas. That gives you the Shiny Charm, which doubles your shiny odds and also opens the Mt. Silver mode.
